Parenthood - Sincere or just for the sake....

Parenthood nowadays to modern Singaporean seems to be very vague...

No longer was it like the 70s, 80s and 90s. The new gen of parents seems to either posses the following...

1) Devoted ones....willing to learn, willing to sacrifice their time, money, lifestyle and habit... Spend time before birth to understand more, willingly to really sacrifice their lifestyle for the kids as the children grow up...

- Thanksfully this is still a huge chunk of the overall parents population. While due to work stress, financial stress and other issues it is gradually altering....

2) Makeshift type... Wants a baby as its fun, joyful and extend the family relationship further. While may not did a lot of research into it nor understand the issues that will crop up before being a parent. But eventually they may be willing to learn, check with elderly (parents) or seek help from peers to acquire the knowledge skills and other necessary parents "NEED TO KNOW". While some may eventually loses faith and join the Hackare group...

- This group are huge and growing as alot of new parents are simply not learning enuf or are acquiring a mixture of western and asian parenthood elements from online and elders. They may tend to ignore certain asian up-bringing culture, precaution and issues. While due to the loss of time in their own lifestyle portion, may eventually neglect their kids and drop off to the hackare group.

3) Hackare ones - give birth due to peer pressure, parent's pressure or trial and error but does not know the consequences of being a parents (well that includes the devoted ones in the initial stage) and most importantly.... Unwilling to alter their lifestyle at all or rarely consider for their young ones.

- this group are really growing... When you return from a late night movie, OT night, or parents place around 11pm-2am. You might bang into one of them who are holding hands of their young ones (can be as young as newborn or usually 2-6yrs old) walking towards home or even about to go off to another location and not yet sleeping.

A quick search in the internet tells you that young earthlings (human's babies) require sufficient sleep during their infant, toddler, young children stage and 10-12hrs of sleep each night is more or less a need in order for their little brain to grow healthily and in the later stage of their young age (primary school) a good sleeping habit. As a growing trend, majority of the adults (20- late 30s) nowadays tend to lead a LATE sleeping syndrome as such
12am - 1am group: Majority
1am - 2am group: growing
2am - 4am group: Internet, blog, late night lovers group and ever growing

Many parents tend to forgotten their young ones need to cultivate a good sleeping habit right from birth, while its almost a must to let them sleep around 9-10pm daily for effective brain growth during young age. I really pity the kids whom are still dragged on the street as of 12am or 1am after some late night shopping trip with their young parents. Is it you sacrificing your precious time for the sake of a child? Or the child sacrificing their health and growth for you?

Think about guys and girls..... If you want to be a parent, even if its 1/2 pass 6 version. Do spare a thought for your young kids, as such actions are severe and irreversible. Be responsible if you want to be a parent, sacrifises are EXPECTED and LEARN TO LIKE IT.....

To all the parents.....Especially Singaporeans.....
